Within the EMPOWERING project, 4 ambitious European utility companies, supported by an international team of university researchers, social scientists and energy experts join forces to empower customers to positively manage their energy consumption. This is done by improving the information on energy bills and by offering online tools. The utilities will provide end users with consumption insight information, to increase their energy awareness and stimulate behavioural changes. The EMPOWERING services will be provided to 344.000 European households. Eight months after the project launch, what has been done so far?
Barcelona, Spain – On the 1st of April 2013, the Intelligent Energy Europe project EMPOWERING has been officially launched. Towards 2020, the main objective of this European project is to make the energy market more transparent and thus enable consumers to save energy. The project aims to meet the challenge by empowering consumers: by involving and informing them, helping them take measures to save energy on the basis of the information they receive on their bills or on specially designed online tools.
